Street, Tarporley’s new food concept #Blog

STREET is located in the heart of the upmarket village of Tarporley and the Market Town of Nantwich. Tarporley being the second of the two restaurants to open. I’m sure a lot of you are now fond of the new street food craze, but STREET, have done one better than that, creating a great chilled atmosphere for you to try something a little different. Great food, in a special setting.

My experience of the STREET venue at Tarporley was that it had always been one of the areas few Chinese Restaurant and Take-Away’s which  looked tired and well in need of an overhaul.  That is exactly what STREET (part of the Dabber Cat Ltd group of restaurants) have done and very well at that.

Outside, the building looks trendy and inviting with Christmas lights which added a festive feel about the place.  On entering the restaurant it certainly had a retro and relaxed atmosphere with lots of up-cycled furniture, mood music and copper features. We were greeted by a member of staff who gave us 3 menu’s to take to our table.  There were not many people dining at lunch time, however I am sure when they are full it would have a great buzz and vibe about the place, the music was lively and the open kitchen added a nice touch.

Inside the Restaurant

We seated ourselves in one of the wooden booths and pondered over the menu’s, which were:-

  • Main Street Menu (IN)
  • Alternative Free Menu
  • Specials Menu

They also have a Main Street Menu (OUT – for those Taking Out), and a Junior Menu.  Both Briony and I chose from the Main Menu, which is split into 3 areas:-

  • Mexi Market (Mexican)
  • Stateside (American)
  • East Street (Asian)

All 3 sections had ‘Add-Ons’ to your mains plus there is a separate ‘Sides’ Section, so there is certainly lots to choose from. Give yourself a little time to work through the options – you can end up with serious food envy!!

I chose the BEANIE B Burrito, spicy beans, roasted veg, guacamole, Mexican rice with cheese (V) for £8.50 and Briony chose the CHOOKATOO Burger, Katsu breaded chicken, cheese, lettuce, mayo and tomato for £8.50.  On ordering our food at the bar I was given a ticket with a number and the member of staff told me that when our food was ready the number would be displayed and we would then collect our food from the Hot Hatch. This made the whole meal rather fun, and a touch I’m sure young families would really enjoy.  We were advised that ‘Add-Ons’ were complimentary so we opted for Baked Nacho’s, Guacamole, Salsa Roja, Cheese (V)

A number of people came in for Take Out food which was delivered in the same way.

When our number was displayed we collected our food, visited the condiments station and tucked in. It was the ideal lunch time feast.

All in all, STREET Tarporley is a great venue and a good addition to the high street offer.  It’s good value for money and has a buzz feel about it, we will certainly be returning but next time at night so we can take advantage of the Cocktail Menu!
