Men with a hearty appetite are being sought for monster food-eating contest.

Nantwich Food and Drink Festival has teamed up with town traders to stage the ‘Man v Dabber Sausage Sizzler’ Challenge.

Contestants will take on a 3lb Dabber Sizzler Sausage, made from Cheshire pork and herbs by Clewlows butchers in Nantwich, served curled in a giant XXL Chatwins bap on a plate of chips from Coral Reef.

The challenge is one of the many highlights of the festival taking place over the weekend September 5-7.

It takes place at 2pm on the Sunday in the well of Nantwich Parish Church with a £10 entry fee going to St Luke’s Hospice.

Nantwich solicitor Steven Coles, who is helping to organise the challenge, said: “The Man v Food contest has become a great favourite on the festival programme. It’s loads of fun and raises money for charity too.”

Last year’s challenge saw 20 beefy blokes chomp through a Juicy Lucy burger weighing more than 5lbs.

Entry fees, collections and sponsorship saw more than £2000 raised for Macmillan Cancer Support.

Steven, head of conveyancing at Hall Smith Whittingham, added: “It all started back in 2012 with a Mount Vesuvius pasta-eating challenge. Now this year it is the turn of the sausage!

“Crowds get right behind the contestants cheering them on. Already we have received entries but have places for anyone who feels up for a belly-busting challenge.”
