What happens at your kitchen table on Christmas Day? Arguments over who’s carving the turkey? Grandad telling one of his old war stories? And maybe a few horrendous Christmas cracker jokes? Well… not at the Aggarwal household.

Back in 2012, it all seemed like a normal day until a discussion over a retirement project for Shashi (aka Mamma Spice) led to her son, Sanjay (aka Baby Spice) putting one of his mother’s freshly blended spices on Ebay. Just a day later and Spice Kitchen, as it would become known, had its first sale!

From the kitchen table to a thriving online business, Spice Kitchen now supplies 10-15 market places including the likes of Ebay and Amazon.

The brainchild behind the business, Shashi, was born in Kenya but after growing up in India, she has now lived in the UK for over 30 years. With over 50 years of cookery experience, she is an oracle when it comes to using spices, much to her families benefit!

Shashi is renowned for home cooking 12 course banquets without even breaking a sweat!

Specialising in producing small batch, freshly ground spice blends and tea blends, the family run business sources the freshest raw spices from around the world, hand-blend, hand-roast and hand-grind them to authentic recipes, before sending them to customers and stockists around the UK every day.

The artisanal spice and tea company is also well known for their spice tins, known in India as ‘Masala Dabba’s’.

The shiny stainless steel tins imported from India contain 7 separate containers for easy access to the myriad of spices that you will need to create perfectly blended dishes. They have various collections including their popular Indian set, Moroccan set, African & Middle Eastern set, Chilli Set, Sea Salts and Loose Tea set!

Of course, all their hard work hasn’t gone unnoticed and Spice Kitchen has recently been awarded with two Great Taste awards, as well as two Gold Stars for their Moroccan and Mulling Spice blends.

Along with running a very busy business, Shashi and Sanjay also support several charities, the main one being FRANK Water who build sustainable water projects in India and Nepal.
