Whitmore & White have produced a stunning new in-house brand that really is as good as it looks! From gin to jam, there is a little something to tickle everybody’s tastebuds in 2018! We at the Taste Cheshire office have been lucky enough to try it all to share with you and we can’t get enough of it!
First up is Whitmore and Whites new Coffee blend. Finally, they have released their famous blend to the world that previously could only be purchased one hot cup at a time in store! Each individual batch is very small and roasted locally by Flaming Bean Coffee, meaning every batch is ever so subtly different. Whitmore and White, have been working with Flaming Bean since originally opening in Heswall, selling their fabulous range of coffees in store and collaborating on their signature blend. When trying the blend for ourselves, we found the flavour rustic and a little fruity with a warming nutty undertone. This coffee makes the perfect partner to a slice of spiced carrot cake or a hearty breakfast. It’s easy to see why the blend has become synonymous with the Whitmore and White in store experience. The perfect espresso blend that you can now enjoy from the comfort of your home!
If you’re looking for something a little stronger to kick off your weekend with, let me recommend Whitemore and White’s house Gin. Of course, this gin comes with a classic Whitmore and White twist that they’ve become known for. The Gin leads with Jasmine, Grapefruit and Cubeb Pepper which are accompanied by Juniper and Citrus. These fabulous flavours dance delicately on the palette. Luckily these strong flavours don’t overpower each other but each have enough kick to tantalise your tastebuds. With a floral finish this gin is crafted to absolute perfection and is bound to become a favourite amongst gin-lovers! We enjoyed the tipple with Fever Tree tonic and a few peppercorns to garnish – this gin looks as stylish as it tastes!
Alongside these two classic drink options Whitmore and White have also ventured into perfect preserves! Starting their range with Montserrat Marmalade and Blueberry & Apple Jam. Whitmore & White are the brains behind the taste and ingredients, and the talented Janey Fern, also known as Chilli Gourmets of Heswall, has brought these scrummy breakfast preserves to life working out of the W&W West Kirby store kitchens. These preserves are just perfect, with both featuring Whitmore and White’s new gin as a key ingredient!
The Montserrat Marmalade has a bursting tang of orange and grapefruit which is closely followed by zingy lemon and lime. The sweetness of pineapple keeps this Marmalade from being too snappy and evens out these strong flavours into a fresh and fruity toast topper. But that’s not all this marmalade is packing, the addition of W&W’s gin leaves a beautifully warm aftertaste of juniper that cuts through the citrus superbly. Whether it’s topped on toast or the filling of a cake – this marmalade really is a showstopper!
Now for our personal favourite addition to the new range! The fragrant Blueberry & Apple Jam smells just as good as it tastes and believe us it taste’s amazing! As a textured jam, it’s got true fruity substance with just the right amount of plump ‘bits’ to spread on your toast. The Cheshire apples and blueberries are perfectly balanced with each other creating a sensational taste! The Whitmore & White Gin gives a friendly wave right at the end that warms this jam right up. If you want Autumn in a jar, then this is the jam for you. We enjoyed this jam in homemade ja m tarts, on toast and in a Victoria spongecake. We can’t get enough of it!
All in all, Whitmore and White have surpassed our expectations with the whole range and we really can’t wait to see what they put their signature twist on next! To purchase ay of the products above head to https://www.whitmoreandwhite.co.uk/ .
