Hunger Pangs with Em Blogs Food #Blog

It’s Tasty Thursday and this week’s instalment is Emily from EmBlogsFood. Her feature is all about her favourite places to eat in Liverpool and the Wirral.

No I’m not pregnant. No I’m not feeling down and eating my feelings…I’m just always SO hungry! I blame Instagram for the constant need to eat deliciously plated, bright and shiny, evil junk food and its only getting worse!

How many times do we plan a trip or a holiday completely around the places we will eat at when we get there? Or pour over restaurant menus weeks before a night out? (don’t pretend this isn’t you) it’s simple; we are a generation of ‘You won’t like me when I’m Hangry’, and I fit the bill pretty easily!

Living on the Wirral and being so close to cities full of amazing food lately is so hard when its that time in the month where all your money is spent up; its another week of failed diet plans or you already had your boring dinner of chicken and veggies. But then…you stare at your phone and scroll through your feed and before you know it, the coat is on and you may as well have a napkin tied around your chin!

In my case, Liverpool always has the ability to tempt me over the River Mersey and draw me in but I will always champion this little Vietnamese spot in Bebington! ( quite dangerously located 5 minutes away from home?!) Ramen has become a consistence in my life lately and Alo Pho nails it every time. Some people drunk dial pizza, we drunk dial ramen!

Of course Liverpool has become a day of distractions for foodies in 2018. Your standard day of window-shopping can turn into multiple snacks along the way or a catch up coffee with the girls becomes brunch and endless cocktails. The list goes on.

Bold Street is becoming so popular for independent restaurants and menus that will drag you in from your shopping daze. Lined with quirky cafes, food from all over the world. Its an easy hop, skip and a chomp away from Central station, which means on a fifteen minute journey from my house I can already be day dreaming of everything I could eat when I get there.

A place that has once or twice hidden me from a rainy day is Love Thy Neighbour. If you spend a lot of time near Bold Street you cant help but notice the unique wall mural that covers the side of the entrance. Once your inside, the cosy atmosphere and food can distract you for a good couple of hours.  The brunch selection will make you drool and I always like to try something a bit different to the bog standard bacon and eggs.

Meanwhile, if its desserts you enjoy, not too far on the opposite side is the great Pieminister, which is making a new craze in cities around the UK. The mini ice cream delights make a great snack and before you know it you will probably work your way through the menu.

If its drunken eats you want and you start to get the need for everything on a plate, Luche Libre is always a good answer when you’re feeling peckish after many Desperados. Small plates of firey Mexican food with candle lit tables and comic book interiors makes a great base for letting your stomach do the talking and in my opinion a good way to pretend you’re going to share, after ordering 6 dishes.

Red Dog Saloon also has my heart for this very reason. The juicy platters of BBQ food and intriguing little starters, I should not be able to put this amount of food away but I definitely can! I’d say for meat lovers all round this is the place for you.

I could go on and on with my all my favourite places and don’t get me started with the Baltic Market…(Food galore!) Needless to say if my stomach is growling and lettuce isn’t enough, I’ve got to listen to my gut! But maybe not all in one day…

Thanks Emily, for this fabulous piece – you have certainly got us planing a trip to Liverpool! If you like what you have seen and want to know more you can find Emily on her websiteInstagram, and  Twitter .  We can’t wait to hear more from Emily in the future!
