Plans for the weekend?
Why not join us to kick off CHESHIRE FOODIE MONTH by checking out the Food Fiesta, in Chester’s Grosvenor Shopping Centre.
It begins this Friday (5th July) at 10am and finishes Sunday at 4.30pm.
Some of Cheshire’s best food producers will gather under the atrium in the middle of the shopping centre to showcase their wares and we’d love you to pop by.
Powell’s Pies are the busiest pie makers in the business at the moment. attending Stockton Heath Festival, Tarporley Country Market. The Farmer’s market in Stoke, Abbey Leys Community Farmers Market and The Wallasey Food Fair as well as our own Food Fiesta this weekend. But don’t worry, they have promised to save the Tastiest of the their Pork Pies for Taste Cheshire fans 😉
Plan a delectable Cheeseboard with quite literally Weird and Wonderful Cheese. They are a small, local family run business who not only source other high-quality unusual flavoured cheeses but also produce our own Cheshire style Artisan cheese range.
Hunter’s Gin will also be at the Fiesta with their London Dry Gin made with a Cheshire Recipe. From the looks of the forecast, it will be perfect G & T weather, so may as well make sure you have a top notch gin to enjoy.
If you are gin fans, but fancy something a little different to get your Fiesta going, Dipple Tipple will be there with their selection of gin based liquors. Try them with Prosecco, thank me later.
They are also bringing a selection of vodkas and rums. I firmly believe that the “Rum Wave” is coming (after the Gin wave recedes) so get in ahead of the curve.
For those that don’t drink alcohol, Carslake Tea will be bringing a selection of incredible teas.
Carslake are 100% independent and work with the finest blenders and tea brokers in the UK to offer a range of interesting, varied, unusual and often quirky loose leaf teas.
I am currently obsessed with Haughton Honey’s delicious wildflower honey, a spoonful a day seems to be helping my hay fever and with the threats of “pollen bombs” on the nightly news, I seriously suggest you bag yourself a jar or even a tub. It’s 100% raw honey, cold extracted, coarse filtered and utterly delicious.
Would probably be perfect in some Carslake Tea.
Speaking of Tea, I firmly believe that Tea and cake go together, so pop over and see Caroline from Ridiculously Rich. Whatever you pick from her gorgeous range, I can promise it will be worth the calories.
Although, just this morning I was dreaming about Flapjackery ‘s flapjacks, These amazing gluten-free flapjacks come in a range of flavours including cherry bakewell, salted caramel, banoffee pie and clotted cream fudge! Take some home for extra brownie points. or should that be flapjack points?!
If you are thinking of trying your own flapjack recipes at home, then pop by and see Briony on the Taste Cheshire stall for some incredible Mornflake Oats. They have been milling oats in Cheshire for 340 years! Delicious, nutritious and versatile.
If that isn’t enough to inspire you, then grab yourself a Taste Cheshire Cookbook, we only have few left, so don’t miss out!
Trying for something a little healthier; then please come chat with Riverford Organic about their Veg boxes.
Gourmegg will be back with their divine scotch eggs, be warned though, they sell out fast, so come down early to avoid disappointment.
If you are a fan of a kitchen gadget, Spanish Hamper are coming along with their Garlic Grater plates.
The hand crafted and hand painted plates are designed with a unique pattern by skilled artisans. The plate allows you to grate not only garlic but also try ginger, Parmesan, nutmeg, chocolate…
Each grater is a one of kind piece that catches the tradition and the charm of the Mediterranean culture offering a distinctive look and feel, quickly becoming your new favourite kitchen gadget.
Cheshire Candle Company will be attending with their candles, reed diffusers, sprays and melts. The perfumes used are of the highest quality, ensuring you a fabulous scent, both when the candle is burning and when it is not. Each candle is intricately handmade from start to finish, with the satisfaction of our customers being the leading motivation.
Maybe ask her if any have Citronella in, I hear its good for keeping the bugs away when sitting outside eating your cheese, drinking your gin/rum/tea.
And don’t worry, it’s on for 3 days, so plenty of time to try it all!
Food Fiestas in the Grosvenor Precinct are run by Taste Cheshire. If you are a local, independent, excellent food/drink producer and are interested in showcasing at a future market event, please get in touch with [email protected]
