The hunt is on… Challenging all butchers and sausage makers across the county.

Once again that time of the year is here and Taste Cheshire is on the hunt for Cheshire’ s Best sausage. The competition is now in its 15th year, and we are asking for your help, do you buy your sausages from a local supplier or butcher, and are they the best you’ve tasted? Well get in touch with them and tell them to get involved in this years Taste Cheshire Sausage Competition.

The competition is split in to 2 categories; Plain pork sausage and Flavoured sausage, which can be made from any variety of meat. Competitors (butchers) can enter 1 or both categories. We just require a pack of 6 sausages for each category as they’ll be judged in both their cooked and raw states.

We are pleased to announce that this year’s sausage competition is being sponsored by The North West Food Research Development Centre (NoWFOOD) at The University of Chester where the preliminary round of judging will take place on Friday 14th February. (Yes, Sausage is the food of love!)

On February 14th, all sausages will be blind tasted by a panel of judges who will assess the sausages on appearance (before and after cooking), texture and taste before deciding on 3 finalists in each category. Those 6 finalists will be invited to attend the Chester Food and Drink festival on Easter weekend where one ultimate winner will be voted for by members of the public.
