Christmas Farmer’s Market Will Run next weekend! #News

27th November 2020

We are over the moon the be announcing the return of the Taste Cheshire Christmas Farmer’s Market next weekend.

We are returning with a special post lock down TWO DAY event on 5th and 6th December 2020 and even better we are EXPANDING.

As well as the usual stalls in Chester Town Hall Square, With hard work and fantastic cooperation from Chester indoor market, we will also be filling the Al Fresco area at the back of Chester Market with stalls. This means you can stretch your Christmas shopping legs over more space with more stalls to entice you.

We are so excited for festive foods and sparkling gift ideas. It’s lovely to give and receive gifts this time of year, but an extra special feeling comes with also knowing that you have helped out a small local business, many of whom have been severely hit by the pandemic. These small businesses radiate passion for what they create and they really are part of what makes Cheshire the greatest county, in our humble opinion.

So, the Al Fresco area at the back of the market, next to the former Gateway Theatre will be transformed into a shoppers grotto and although we are all missing the usual Chester Christmas Market we hope to bring some of that festive feeling of the Christmas markets into town for the weekend.

The market will run both Saturday and Sunday from 10am – 4pm – however, we remind you that many of our stalls are hugely popular small businesses and may sell out of items…so please don’t leave it too late and end up disappointed.

A few changes you may have noticed we have already made to markets since the beginning of the pandemic. Hand sanitising stations and a one way system being the most obvious, along with stall holders wearing masks and visors to protect themselves and you. In addition to this for this special event it is more important than ever to keep you safe so we will be adding COVID Marshals to ensure social distancing, to keep everyone well spaced.

We ask that you please respect these marshals doing a difficult job in order to keep us all safe.

We expect the return of our fabulous regular local producers to trading as well as some shiny new faces to investigate. Get ready to start stocking up on festive treats like pies and cheese and cakes! I think we an all agree we deserve a cheeky treat or two after the last few months!

While in town, why not pop by and visit the Christmas Tree Festival in Chester Cathedral too to round off a fabulous festive day in the City of Chester.

Special Thanks to Karen Bates from Chester Market and Ian Tordoff from Cheshire West Safety Advisory Group for their endless patience and help getting this together. We would not be opening if it were not for their hard work and dedication.

Any enquiries about trading should be made to [email protected]
