The Townhouse is an independent, family-run hotel which is so welcoming. Owners Nikki, Steven and the rest of the Hesketh family are always on-hand to take great care of you. This is a fabulous place where nothing is too much trouble, and you’ll want to come back again and again.
Within walking distance of the beautiful, historic sights of the city and just a hop, skip and a jump away is the Chester Riviera, where you can watch the banks of the River Dee go by on a leisurely boat cruise, or meander down the riverfront with an ice cream in the late Summer sunshine.
You may even catch a live performance in the bandstand … there is plenty to do, and it’s all right on your doorstep.
The Townhouse Secret Garden is a tranquil hideout – a stunning oasis hidden away right in the middle of the city. Think butterfly house meets the enchanted garden, where the cocktails are all the different colours of the rainbow and the sharing platters are to die for, plus they serve one of the very best afternoon teas in Chester. This very special space is the perfect place to host events, bridal showers, hen parties and so much more – and don’t miss the Chester Oktoberfest celebrations kicking off on Friday 25th September and running over three weekends till 10th October (keep watching the socials for details).
The bedrooms at The Townhouse are light, airy and have everything you need for the perfect staycation. There is a range of options to suit all requirements including family rooms for four people, The Roman Vault party-pad can sleep up to ten, and the Amphitheatre two-bedroom apartments give a fully serviced, self-catering option.
Chester Zoo is a short drive out of the city, and if you’re arriving by train or just want to walk around in the open air, there are many places to picnic and attractions to enjoy – all close by. Sick To Death is located on Bridge Street Row which explores the gory history of medicine through the ages (the kids will really love this one!), and the all-new Deva Roman Discovery Centre will provide you with a full history of how this incredible city came to be. You’ll find some charming independent retailers around every corner – and our amphitheatre is well worth a visit. Our various gardens (favourites are Grosvenor Park and the Roman Gardens) make a great on-foot destination for a bite to eat in the great outdoors.
There are so many reasons to love The Townhouse – this is a stunning city centre hotel, bar, restaurant and garden, which really does have it all – but the best thing is the gorgeous team who care so much about giving you the very best experience in this magical city.
The Chester Townhouse situated in Lower Bridge Street, Chester is reopening in mid-February 24 after undergoing
