This month, historical Cheshire coaching inn The Swan in Tarporley has reopened its doors to an exciting new menu based around the brand-new Josper fire oven, and a fresh new look sympathetic to its 16th century roots.

Owners, 16 Hospitality have made a significant investment to fund the refurbishment, with the new interior celebrating the building’s original features, such as the open log-burning fire and exposed beams.  Modern touches have been incorporated, with a contemporary colour palette, glass display’s and stunning images taken by local photographer, Helen Baly.

The menu has also received a radical overhaul, featuring grills from the new Josper indoor barbeque, and hearty hotpots packed full of flavour and taste, reminiscent of its coaching inn roots. Proudly going back to basics, this new menu celebrates the essential requirement any diner needs for an enjoyable meal – taste.  Favourites include One Pot Chicken, Slow-cooked Oxtail Casserole and Grilled Peach & Arugula Salad.

Alongside the selection of delicious new grills, a range of vegetarian and vegan options will also be available, and the menu will be updated regularly with seasonal local produce.

Stuart Norman, development chef for The Swan, explained: “The exciting addition of our new indoor barbeque offers diners a range of quality meats to choose from, infusing them with an authentic, smoked taste. Customers can expect their plate to be full of fresh, quality ingredients, unhampered by any fuss or frills. We can’t wait for guests to sample the new dishes and hopefully impress them with our take on great pub food.”

Diners will also benefit from premium service, after waiting staff received extensive training ahead of a series of soft launches and a grand opening on the 20th August, held as a ‘thank you’ to many of The Swan’s biggest supporters of recent and past years.

As well as introducing a revolutionary menu to The Swan, guests also have the opportunity to drink from a new ground-breaking wine menu. The wines have each been individually hand-picked by established wine expert Jon Campbell, who sources exemplary wines from quality-driven corners of the wine world.

The Swan’s general manager, Neal Thacker, described his excitement about the new development and stated;

“The Swan is a place where every corner of the community can gather to eat, drink and be merry – from business meetings to a swift pint after work to Mum and Dads date night over a three-course meal and a bottle of wine.

“This renovation has given us the opportunity to better service our wide range of guests and the new food options have been selected for their focus on taste and quality ingredients. Alongside the food menu, we will continue to offer visitors a wide selection of drinks, from refreshing thirst-quenchers to cask ales and international wines any connoisseur would be proud to peruse.”

In addition to the restaurant and bar facilities, The Swan also boasts a number of comfortable rooms, complete with all the modern conveniences required for a restful stay. The 16 rooms offer guests a relaxing bolthole in which to rest, relax and enjoy a good night’s sleep before going on to their next destination or enjoying the sites of the local area.
