Cheshire wine writer and presenter and founder of The Wine School of Cheshire, Richard J Smith, is set to welcome excited guests to wine destinations around the world as The Wine School of Cheshire launches escorted tours as an extened offering to their wine tastings around Cheshire.
Richard said “In the latter part of 2020 I will be celebrating an incredible thirty years in the world of wine so there’s no better time to share that amazing world, quite literally, with our guests as we begin our adventures around the world. We’re working with two leading wine tour operators to take wine school on tour. Our travel partners, who are both ABTA and ATOL protected, have worked closely to put together two amazing wine holidays: we’re offering a four day escorted tour of the Champagne region and in the autumn a truly magical nine night escorted tour of South Africa’s winelands and Cape Town.”
This April wine school guests will experience a behind the scenes visit to the prestigious Champagne region in France staying in the City of Reims and visits will include the famous Avenue de Champagne in Epernay and a small producer in the exclsuively Grand Cru village of Bouzy – very aptly named! The highlight of the tour will be a private dinner at the Taittinger Family’s Chateau de la Marquetterie with each course paired with different Champagnes from Taittinger’s collection.
“I’m so excited to be able to offer this money can’t buy experience” said Richard. “Access to the Chateau is limited to a hanful of people as it isn’t usually open to the public.”
In October the wine school really goes long haul with their trip to South Africa with nine nights in some of South Africa’s finest hotels including the all-suite ‘Last Word’ in Franschhoek and Paarl.
Richard commented “this really is a wine tour like no other – we have put together a remarkable itinerary taking in some of the best wine sites in Franschhoek, Paarl, Stellenbosh and Constantia including the famous Klein Constantia and we’re taking guests for lunch at the top of Table Mountain too!”
Both tours are limited to just 14 guests with plenty of free time. “It’s essential that guests have time to enjoy some down time or explore some more on their own” Richard said. “I wanted our tours to reflect the intimacy of our events here in Cheshire so we’ve limited availability to the same number of guests as we have at one of our Saturday wine schools in Chester.”
