Chester Hotel named Number 11 in the World #Blog

Since opening less than 2 years ago, Edgar House has offered boutique bedrooms, brunches, lunches, Afternoon Teas and dinner to Guests from around the World.
Situated on the City Walls walkway overlooking the weir, they offer peaceful riverside luxury in the heart of Chester, with a focus on making Guests feel special and spoilt. The Owners Mike Stephen and Tim Mills opened their doors in April 2013 following a 3-year refurbishment, and it’s been full steam ahead ever since.
Having been named the 9th best place to stay in Europe, and 11th best in the World as part of the Tripadvisor Travellers’ Choice Awards 2015, a thrilled Mike and Tim can’t help thinking back to where it all started 5 years ago, with a rundown Georgian house
“We’re absolutely over the moon and incredibly humbled”, said Mike. “Since 2010, Edgar House and the Riverside Garden have been a real labour of love, and taking on a 3-year renovation project with no financial backing, we sometimes thought we were mad to start a new business from scratch during a recession”.
“We refused to compromise on quality for the bedrooms and the restaurant, focusing on quality local suppliers from hand-crafted furniture to award-winning fresh produce. We’ve stuck to our belief that luxury doesn’t have to be formal, and we hoped that our Guests would notice the difference. We’re absolutely thrilled with the feedback we’ve had”.
Head Chef Neil Griffiths and Assistant Manager Naomi Hough are on-hand to make sure dining and overnight Guests continue to receive a special and award-winning experience, and the team is set to grow in 2015 as Edgar House expands its offering with more bedrooms, dinners and special events
With this TripAdvisor Award, and the recent Sunday Times Award of the Number 1 City Hotel in the UK, the owners hope to see Edgar House go from strength to strength. But for now, it’s celebration time: “we want to say a big thank you for all of the support from our hotel and restaurant Guests, and of course our fabulous team.
