Cosy Club opens in Chester in unique style #News

Timeless glamour and fresh relaxed dining. Two things I am happy to get on board with, and last night we had both with the opening of The Cosy Club in Chester City centre.

Cosy Club, an opulent all-day bar and restaurant brand owned by Loungers is located within the exquisite terracotta façade of the former Westminster Coach and Carriage Works, part of the new Northgate development in the city centre. I’m sure locals will be pleased, as we are, that the works are finally completed but we’ll forgive the delays as the building was first built in 1914, (although there has been a coachworks on the Northgate site since 1870) so there was a fair amount of work involved to keep the history in this modern incarnation.

The façade’s central arch will form a spectacular entrance to the development called Coachworks Arcade. The Northgate site itself has seen every part of Chester’s history, including housing Roman barracks and stores, Saxon houses, Viking jewellery makers and Medieval streets. The new Cosy Club is a part of the most eagerly anticipated new leisure development featuring a mix of open streets, parades and a central square that should integrate seamlessly with the surrounding city centre.

The Cosy Club bar and restaurant group is certainly eccentric and it’s launch in Chester yesterday promised to offer something totally unique to the city’s fast-growing food and drink scene.  They certainly do have an enthusiastic and eclectic team, they’re obviously supported to reflect their own unique styles and it’s fun to be served by staff with clear personality and style.

The overall design of Cosy Club takes inspiration from the Aesthetic movement and the ebonised late Victorian furniture. The building was originally a motor works and the team has added nods to this with motoring memorabilia within the cabinets and the artwork. The panelling throughout has been influenced by the William Morris room in the V&A, with intricate fabric by Morris featured within the panels themselves. The magnificent wooden aesthetic movement lights were made bespoke for the building.

The Cosy Club team can’t wait to bring a touch of timeless glamour and a fresh, modern menu to the food scene, offering relaxed dining and drinking in a really special setting. You will experience warm, welcoming service, amazing interiors and exceptional food and drinks with all-day menus featuring fresh and modern classics with extensive brunch, gluten-free, vegetarian and vegan dishes. As well as delicious food, Cosy Club has an abundance of amazing cocktails and tipples for all tastes.

We were treated to a selection of their starters and large glasses of crisp cold white wine. We could not resist trying their cocktails too which were the perfect antidote to the current heatwave.

Cosy Club also makes the perfect after-work, post-shop and late-night spot for the city’s locals and visitors alike. It’s a great place for a pre theatre drink or dinner before heading to the Storyhouse or Chester Cathedral.

Throughout their opening month in Chester 50p from every burger and 20p from every coffee will be donated to UK Youth to support their important work with young people
