Fathers Day is almost upon us – the time of year when we seek out ‘thoughtful’ bottles and
something a bit different to show we’ve made the effort!
If he is a red wine drinker, you can’t really go wrong with this amazing Il Civettaio organic Sangiovese from Italy, available exclusively from Jackson & Seddon, importing top quality Italian wines and delivering to your doorstep.
This wine spends 2 years in 38HL oak barrels so give it a little time to open up
and once it does it will blow his socks off (most likely the ones you bought at
Christmas!). It is a true expression of the Sangiovese grape with aromas and
flavours of tobacco and leather and hints of aniseed and liquorice on the
finish.
The bottle is pretty eye-catching too – a ‘win-win’ on the gift front. A bit of a
treat at £24 a bottle, but he’s worth it and this is worth every penny too.
This wine won the Back to Nature category at the People’s Choice Wine
Awards in February this year – a popular category for organic and biodynamic
wines which stand out from the crowd.

If he prefers white, and loves spicy take-aways, then this Cramele Recas
Wine Atlas Feteasca Regala 2019 will match perfectly with most Thai or
Chinese-inspired dishes and is a bit different too.
There is a modern twist to this little-known grape variety, with lots of tropical fruit flavours, but
still a dry style – it can certainly handle plenty of chili heat.
This wine scooped the top prize in the White Wine for Aromatic & Asian Cuisine at the People’s Choice Drinks Awards and is available at many retailers, including Asda.

The People’s Choice Wine Awards was created in 2017 by Janet Harrison of Cracking Wine and Judy
Kendrick, MD of ‘common sense’ wine marketing consultancy JK Marketing.
The People’s Choice Drinks Awards, now incorporating wines and spirits is the only UK-based
national drinks awards dedicated to and judged by consumers with help and support from industry
professionals. It is designed to accurately reflect how the average drinker in the UK chooses and
enjoys wines and spirits. The Awards categories reflect the buying decisions of the average consumer and cover all types of
occasions. Submission numbers to the competition have grown 100% year on year for wines and the
spirits categories will be extended for the 2022 competition from the current 8 (across gin, rum and
whisky/whiskey).
