What a weekend it was at this year’s Taste Cheshire Food and Drink Festival! Many of you will remember the fantastic chef demonstration by Martin Taylor at Chester Racecourse, showcasing his incredible culinary skills. Well, we have even more exciting news from Martin and his team, as his highly anticipated new Chester restaurant, The Sandbar, opens its doors TODAY, August 5th!
Taking over the former Henry Potts pub site on Watergate Street, The Sandbar is set to make waves as Chester’s very first dedicated seafood restaurant. This new venture comes from the acclaimed team behind the award-winning Sandbar Seafood Shack in Chester Market, and with industry legend Jerry Brunning backing the project, it promises to bring a fresh and exciting new angle to Chester’s thriving food scene.

Diners can look forward to a menu that celebrates the very best of the UK coast, featuring classic seasonal offerings such as whole roasted fish, exquisite Ynys Môn oysters, succulent lobster, and a delightful array of Shetland shellfish and day-boat catches from the Irish to the Celtic Sea. These sit beautifully alongside bold, globally-inspired dishes like a hearty Croatian fish stew and vibrant wild sea bass ceviche, truly showcasing the breadth, versatility, and taste profile of seafood cookery from around the world.
