Essential Cuisine have decided to walk the whole of The Sandstone Trail in one day, which encompasses 34 miles (55 kilometers.)

With a challenging itinerary which spans from 6am to 9pm, Saturday 30th June 2018 will see the Essential Team take on one of “Britain’s Favourite Walks” as voted by ITV viewers.

It will be broken down into sections, with the team pushing themselves to walk as much as they can. Whether it be 3 miles or the full 34, the Essential flag will be carried from start to finish in one day.

The walk itself offers superb, unbroken and often elevated walking across the largely green and pleasant English county of Cheshire, from Southern Whitchurch in rural Shropshire, through to Frodsham in the North.

The team effort is just the next challenge in our support plan of our chosen charity St Luke’s Hospice which we have partnered with for several years. Last year 21 members of the Essential Team walked up Snowdon and raised an amazing £7300 for the hospice.

With the success of Snowdon in mind, the team came up with several ideas, and the employees voted for Sandstone Trail.

St Luke’s is a local charity that cares for those with life limiting illnesses, delivering symptom control, end of life care, and complementary therapies.

We recently lost a colleague to cancer, the lovely Paul Bailey, who joined our Production team in May 2015. In his later days, he was admitted to St Luke’s Hospice, Winsford, where he received fantastic care and support, until he sadly passed away in March 2018.

With the additional care and support that Paul and his family received, we are even more determined to push ourselves and raise money to enable St Luke’s to continue the fantastic work they do.
