You may already be a fan of chocolate and indeed Hotel Chocolat – but a whole new world of chocolate and wine pairing is waiting! You might expect this event to only feature red wine, but rest assured, some of these incredible chocolates will also work with white and rosé wines and sparkling wine too!
Join us in our unique event space, Art Box and look forward to an entertaining evening of wine education and enjoyment together with an enjoyable wine and food pairing experience in Chester with Cheshire wine specialist, Richard J Smith. Art Box features some amazing paintings from emerging artists around our region offering guests a light yet calming environment to experience wine and food pairing at its best. There are always foodie treats on the menu but never wine snobbery! Look forward to mouthwatering chocolates from the Hotel Chocolat range including some from their Christmas collection!
Hotel Chocolat are not just an amazing UK chocolatier – they in fact make all their chocolates themselves and heavily invest in sustainability around the world where their chocolate plantations are based and ensure the staff at those plantations receive a fair wage – and their chocolates are truly outstanding!
Our evening wine tastings usually last around two hours where guests can learn more about the wonderful world of wine in a relaxed atmosphere and free of political opinions! Usually region focussed, you’ll learn how a grape variety can create a completely different flavour dependent on where and in many cases how it’s been grown. Find out more about the effects of regional climates and how to understand some of the ‘jargon’ from the world of wine and discover what all the swirling and sniffing is really for – most importantly you’ll taste the wines too! What are tannins?, what do legs mean?, does wine really ‘breathe’? Find out the answers and more!
We’ll share some fun wine facts throughout the evening and we love questions so ask away and let us help you to more about what makes an amazing bottle of wine! There are 6 wines to taste, all of which represent amazing value for money, sourced from a range of local and online specialist stores such as Tanners Wines, Waitrose, DeFine Food and Wine, Wandelust Wines, Laithwaites and M&S: find out why there’s such an array of wine pricing around the world too. We don’t sell any wine at our events so there’s no hard sell at the end. Your bespoke wine tasting notes book is there for you to use during the tasting and take home with you: a handy reference should you wish to visit any of the wine stores we’ve used at a later date.
