Description

About the day

Join us for another restorative yoga day on the beautiful terrace of Hawarden Estate’s Walled Garden.

This beautiful, undercover space allows us to be at one with nature, with gorgeous views of the walled garden; as we move our body through various yoga styles; breathe in oxygen with some useful breathing techniques and give our minds the space and rest they may need.

We’ll be treated to a delicious lunch provided by the award-winning Hawarden Estate Farm Shop to help us refuel before enjoying a more thought-conscious and restorative sessions to end the well-deserved day away.

Strength for all

In this Retreat Day Away, we’ll be exploring strength. Strength in our bodies and minds; bringing awareness to our inner strength.

Strength in our bodies isn’t just about huge muscles. Instead it’s about using some under-used muscles to help us keep balanced and strong. Muscle strength is so important; especially as we age and is important for our posture and getting us through our daily lives. Inner strength is just as important to give us the confidence to walk tall and face the challenges that life throws at us, keeping us in check and fully balanced.

Suitability

This retreat day away is suitable for anyone who has practiced yoga before, whether you have a regular practice or you’re in need of reawakening your yoga from a deep sleep.

Ideally, at a basic level, you should be comfortable with placing your hands on the ground regularly, for example, supporting yourself in downward-facing dog and being able to hold a plank for approximately 5 deep breaths.

Details

The Retreat Day for Strength is broken down into four sessions, with breaks to rehydrate and refuel with a tasty, light lunch.

The first session is designed to move our bodies, to build strength in our naturally weaker muscles, whilst stretching and lengthening our stronger, tighter muscles. We’ll build heat in the body, warming our bodies up from the inside out to fully maximise our ability.

The second session is a fun workshop to explore our untapped strength to lift us up. In this session, we’ll explore techniques to find your inner strength without having to look like a bodybuilder!

After lunch and little downtime to sit down and rest, we’ll take it down a notch and explore our inner strength which is useful for balancing. In this session we’ll explore ways to balance; using smaller muscles and learning techniques to improve our balancing skills.

Time to slow it down. In this more restorative session will stretch out our naturally tighter/stronger muscles with some yin-style postures. It’s a more relaxing session, where we’ll hold postures for longer, in a slower, more relaxing state of body and mind. This is followed by a long relaxation to fully absorb the day and allow the body and mind to rest.
