February Half Term – Food and Fun for your family! #Out and About

Victoria Hayes
17th February 2020

Half terms can be tough, its only a week, but it can feel like forever, especially this February one which tends to be grey and gloomy, with no scope for the kids to just run around in the garden.

Never fear though, the Taste Cheshire team is here to help, with some fun ideas of what to do this February half term week. The aim being to find something that is fun for the kids to do, but still feels like a treat for you.

So What’s first…

Well, As a mum to two boys I know it can be hard to do anything when you have a toddler who doesn’t want to sit still. That’s why I love Ginger Monkey Play Cafe.

Ginger Monkey offers delicious food, tea and coffee in a stylish environment whilst providing a superb play area to keep your little people entertained. You can enjoy your coffee hot for a change and relax knowing your little ones will be safe and happy while you catch up with your friends, get on with some work using the free wifi or just play and have fun.

The seating enables you to see the play area from wherever you are, which I love as my small human thinks he’s Houdini and suffers from terrible “small man syndrome” so need constant beedy eye supervision.

Ginger Monkey have loads of activities this half term.

Tuesday – crafting on all day, make your own peacock •

Wednesday – Toot Toot creative play in classroom, on all day, put on your hard hat and his vis jacket and let your imagination run wild •

Thursday – make your own play doh, sessions at 10:30, 11:30, 12:30 – Limited spaces

Give them a call to book spaces in the activities, or just turn up for a good play – there’s plenty of free parking!

Speaking of activities….this one is for the slightly older ones…

Half Term fun with The Mini Makery on Wednesday 19 February at The White Horse.

They’ll be keeping kids hands and brains busy, allowing the grown-ups time to relax in the beautiful surrounds of The White Horse.  The craft workshop is valid with each paying adult joining them for lunch, plus during half term Kids Eat Free so it’s the perfect way to spend the day!

It’s a  workshop like no other.. the kids can design and print their own canvas bag or T-shirt!

Each child will choose a T-shirt or bag to create their own design:
Design their own stencil – think initials, hearts, animals, dinosaurs, sea creatures and more!
Stencil design onto their chosen bag/t-shirt using various techniques, colours and paints
Decorate a paper bag to take your goodies home in whilst you wait for your design to dry.

Suitable for kids aged 5 years upwards – so call to book and get crafting!

If you can’t make it Wednesday don’t worry, Kids still eat free in half term and there is also plenty to keep the kids interested with a nautical themed outdoor play area –  allow them captain one of the different sized ships and sail the Roodee!

There’s loads going on at Jodrell Bank Discovery centre this half term;

Tiny Astronauts – This interactive session is aimed at 4 -7 year olds and lasts approximately 20 minutes.

Come along to the tiny astronauts session and find out about what it is like in space and on other planets and why we get day and night.
