Flowers in the Town- Time to visit Nantwich! #Blog

1st June 2021

This July visitors to the town centre will enjoy a vibrant display of unique flowers as part of the Flowers in the Town trail. The trail will feature wooden flowers currently being decorated by children from Knutsford’s schools and nurseries and residents from the retirement and care home.

The event was first held in 2019 with flowers handcrafted by Knutsford’s Town Ranger and displayed in Wallwood. This year the flowers will be ‘planted’ across the town centre to provide colour and cheer to the town and encourage footfall.  Like 2019, the flowers will be decorated according to the theme of the RHS Tatton Show, which for 2021 is love.

This year the trail is multigenerational with residents of Abbeyfield, Sharston House and Tabley House each decorating flowers for the trail as well as the children from local schools.

The event is made possible with the kind sponsorship of Little Waitrose and Eleven Recruitment.  David North of Little Waitrose said, “Little Waitrose are delighted to sponsor this community project once again and be part of it.  After the past year, we are looking forward to the project bringing some colour and cheer to our town centre this summer”.

Nick Smith, Managing Director of Eleven Recruitment said, “We are extremely happy be involved in this community project once more.  The inclusion of all generations in this year’s event is so important after what we have been through.  We look forward to seeing the flowers ‘planted’ in the town centre this summer.  Good luck to all involved.”

23 flowers will be planted this year the week before the RHS Show (which starts on July 21st) and will remain in place, pending inclement weather, throughout the summer before being returned to the participating schools and homes.
