Friday Feeling at Burger Shed 41 #Review

Everyone knows that Friday Feeling when you’re so close to the weekend but so far away at the same time so Tegan and I decided to treat ourselves and pop out for lunch at Burger Shed 41. Burger Shed is located right in the heart of Chester city centre, making it the ideal spot for a quick but tasty lunch.

We walked in to almost a full restaurant just after 12 o’clock, not an easy feat in Chester where there are so many fabulous lunch options. Burger Shed has a great relaxed atmosphere with a simple menu that has something for everyone. We were greeted by a very smiley member of staff and taken to our table, unfortunately all the booths were full with diners who had got there ahead of us but we were given a nice big table, with the perfect view around the restaurant to noisy at other diners food, a favourite pass time mine. Next to our table is a large chalk board detailing all menu options as well as a handy reminder of the deals on offer at Burger Shed and Sister Restaurant Urbano 32, just across the road.

We were provided with the standard and specials menus and advised that there was a deal today, ‘Burger for a Fiver’ this included the Shed Burger and Shed Cheeseburger, which we already had our eye on. Since it was a Friday and we were going to give the deal ago we decided to treat ourselves and order sides. We went for the Poutine Fries, Cheese and Gravy (£3.50) and some Sweet Potato Fries (£3.70) and to top it off a Vanilla Milkshake, though the Coke Float did have us questioning our decision, maybe we will give them a try next time.

It wasn’t long until our drinks arrived, and the Milkshake was the best I have had in a long time, topped with cream and a great thick shake, I didn’t regret my decision after trying this. Shortly after our burgers arrived, my burger the Shed Cheeseburger was a beef patty, American cheese, shed sauce, lettuce and tomato. The bun was sweet and soft but firm enough not to full apart with all the filling. The patty was full of flavour and cooked well and the shed sauce is a great addition adding a little tartness to bring it all together. The burgers come with a large half dill pickle, I think this is a great touch, much like marmite – you love them or hate them, and I happen to love them; but for my many friends that don’t I appreciate that this is placed on the side. Tegan’s standard Shed burger with additional salad came with the same presentation and great flavour of mine, just missing the American cheese. As the cheese lover I am I think I would miss this, but Tegan said the burger had such great flavour it didn’t need it. Our sides were also delicious, the Poutine, had lovely melted American cheese and tasty meat gravy, with just enough that it coated the chips but that they hadn’t gone soggy. The fries used are crinkle cut so this helped to keep them crisp and this is something we will definitely be back for soon. The sweet potato fries were also a triumph, they were soft inside but crisp outside and had that great crunch you want.

Everything went so well together and whilst we left very full (maybe next time we will share a side) we were more than satisfied; our lunch which lasted just 45 minutes from sitting down to paying the bill, which is more than manageable for a workday lunch, and we will certainly be back again soon. Thanks to the Burger Shed team the food was delicious and the great service really added to our experience.
