Giving September a Vegan Slant with Taste Cheshire

With so many new and interesting vegan eateries having opened in Chester in recent months, it’s not surprising that our beautiful county was recently recognised for its progressive options of vegan and vegetarian venues.

Embracing a predominantly herbivorous diet signifies progressiveness, given that there is clear evidence explaining why meat production and consumption has a higher carbon footprint than a plant-based lifestyle,” according to a recent Bankrate study. (full Bankrate study info is available here)

So to honour our plant eating friends, we are happy to be embracing a Vegan Slant to September here at Taste Cheshire.

What does that mean exactly… well for one thing, we are excited to be trying some Vegan foods in some of our favourite local eateries. For those of you unsure about skipping the meat and dairy, we can assure you there is nothing boring about the offerings on these Vegan menus.

We will be visiting; The Chester Fields for their popular Vegan night on a Wednesday, testing a Vegan Dog at Burgershed41, getting stuck in to Vegan takeover at Urbano 32,  getting vegan wine advice from Hypha, and we will be popping by Foodie Friday at Chester Market for the  Vegan take over of the MRKT Cafe on September 6th.

We will feature a Vegan wine of the month and a bonus extra special recipe from Carol our regular market trader and creator of delicious Vegan and Gluten free treats.

Speaking of our popular Taste Cheshire Farmer’s Market, this month’s event will feature an additional Vegan section with lots of exciting choices and alternatives to appeal to both dedicated vegans and those, like us who are learning more about a plant based lifestyle and its possible benefits.

We’ve heard the health benefits of eating Vegan include, losing excess weight, increased intake of certain nutrients, improved blood sugar levels and kidney function and lowered risks of heart disease. Studies show that vegans benefit from good gut health thanks to an increase in fibre intake. This can subsequently lead to lower levels of inflammation and elevated digestive health.

Plus, at Taste Cheshire we are very keen on sustainability and buying local produce to reduce our carbon footprint, “Eating a vegan diet could be the “single biggest way” to reduce your environmental impact on earth”, according to the Independent.

So we look forward to entering the festive season, happier, healthier and more virtuous than we were before….probably only to ruin it again!

We are happy Supporters of Organic your September

Organic September is a month-long campaign designed to encourage more people to try organic as a way to promote and educate people about organic food & farming practices.

Following a year of unprecedented environmental protest and ground-breaking research, there’s never been a better moment to shout about the role organic farming has to play in the climate change debate; Benefiting nature, Wildlife, The planet,  and building healthy soils.

We are keen to get out and about and see and do loads in our Vegan month, so if you know of an event or a particularly good menu you think we should try then please do get in touch with us with your suggestions.  email : victoria.hayes@tastecheshire.com
