We were delighted to be joined by the lovely Marie and Andrew of Powell’s Pies on Dee 106.3 Tuesday with Gavin Matthews.
Powell’s Pies recently entered the Great British Pie Awards in the Pork Pie category. They were competing against over 90 other Pork Pies and received a fabulous, and well deserved Bronze Award.
Marie and Andrew still make their Pie’s in the traditional way. Their recipe has been in the family for 5 generations and dates back to the early 1800’s. They make the pies using a free standing, rather than the more modern tin method. This ensures the heat is transferred through the whole of the pie, leaving a crisp pastry on the outside and soft inside. They are also very particular about their meat products using only locally sourced meats.
You can find Powell’s Pies at many local farmers markets and they will also be at the Chester Food and Drink Festival 15 – 17 April 2017.
Congratulations on your Award Marie and Andrew.
