Calling all Chester foodies! A beloved pancake haven is undergoing a delicious transformation, and we’re here to spill the beans (or, should we say, the lentils?).

Hanky Panky Pancakes, a fixture on Commonhall Street for a decade, has closed its doors, but fret not! The space is being reimagined to bring a vibrant taste of South India to Chester. Introducing Dabba, your new destination for flavourful and authentic South Indian comfort food.

Regular patrons of Hanky Panky might not be entirely surprised by this transition. The owners, Stephen and Rekha Fowler (affectionately known as Mr. and Mrs. HP), have always shown a passion for Indian flavours, incorporating them into their menu and hosting popular “curry club” events.

Now, they’re taking the plunge and diving deep into the rich culinary landscape of South India. Dabba promises to offer a mouth watering selection for breakfast, brunch, and lunch, featuring aromatic dhals, crispy dosas, homemade chutneys, and the quintessential masala chai.

Open five days a week, from Thursday to Monday, Dabba is poised to become a new go-to for anyone seeking a taste of South Indian comfort.

“South Indian cuisine brings an amazing palette of flavour, with which to create,” said Stephen and Rekha in a social media post. “We are very excited for the future, and we would love you to join us.”

The search is on! Dabba is currently seeking a food server and an assistant chef to join their passionate team. While an official opening date remains under wraps, anticipation is building for Dabba’s arrival this spring.
