After months and months of hard work and preparation, the Hawarden Estate Farm Shop Cafe and General Store is open for business at Broughton Retail Park. With seating both outside and in, the new shop is on the pavement outside Boots and is housed in a converted shipping container clad in wonderful Scottish larch to mirror the original Farm Shop, and as with the Farm shop the colour will change with time. The new shop embodies all of Hawarden Estate’s core values; friendliness, excellent food and drink and the very best service, and has created eight new jobs in a growing team. Adam Stanley, Head Chef at sister business The Glynne Arms in Hawarden, has helped the chefs put together a menu full of wonderful locally sourced and home-made food, from sandwiches and salads to the famous Farm Shop pies and sausage rolls. Food is available both to eat in and to take away, from breakfast to early supper.

The cafe serves the very best coffee by roaster and espresso specialist Allpress, a small company founded in New Zealand in 1986 and widely regarded as one of the finest small batch producers anywhere in the world. Staff at the Broughton cafe -like those at the Farm Shop- have been highly trained by the Allpress team to make the perfect coffee for Broughton shoppers. The opening of the Cafe and General Store coincides with the launch of a new line of Hawarden Estate Provision Merchant products for the Farm Shop. Farm Shop founder Charlie Gladstone saw the term ‘Provision Merchant’ written on a Victorian building in Liverpool and thought it was the perfect phrase to describe what his business is about, being both very old fashioned and incredibly modern. The range includes the Farm Shop’s acclaimed Apple Juice, various delicious jams and chutneys and all sorts of home-

made pies and cakes, which have been made by the team, using locally sourced, seasonal ingredients.

Colin Gilligan, centre manager at Broughton Shopping Park, said: “The local community have been very excited about the opening of Hawarden Estate Farm Shop and we think it’s a great compliment to the current retail mix on the park. It’s fantastic to see the shop working with so many local suppliers and the wide range of seasonal produce is sure to be a big hit with our shoppers.”

Opening Hours: Monday to Friday: 8am – 7pm Saturday: 9am – 6pm Sunday: 10am – 5pm
