Horsing Around at PoloFest #Blog

September is always a busy month for festivals and this weekend especially with the Good Life Experience, Mold Food and Drink Festival, Chester Races, Liverpool Food and Drink and PoloFest all taking place. We were delighted to be attending Polofest who had everything covered from transport to activities and even a welcome drink all included in your ticket price. The event was held out at Chester Lakes, just out of the city centre; it is a wonderful setting for an event like this with so many great facilities including camping for tents and caravans, fishing lakes, kids play areas and an onsite restaurant.

We decided to take advantage of the free shuttle bus from Chester Railway Station, a great touch which certainly added to the day, as it gave us all the opportunity to enjoy a gin or two without having to worry about getting home. We were greeted with a voucher to collect a welcome drink of our choice at the bar in the main tent so headed that way towards the stage. Across the weekend the stage showcased DJ sets from Gok Wan and Spice Girl Melanie C, Toploader, Simon Webbe, Sam Bailey, Chris Hepworth and more. It was great line up for the family friendly layout of the event and kids and adults a like were all dancing away all day long.

In between sets we took full advantage of the fairground rides; the carousel and dodgems really took us back to the old days so a few spins on both really put a smile on our faces, I must admit, dodgems are a lot harder to drive than I remember. After a peruse around the retail tent and petting zoo, we headed over to the field for the exhibition Polo staged by professional players of J F polo Academy. The games were great fun, very fast paced and at times we almost got involved, after each match we even got to meet the horses!
