Last year the venue was voted the third best in the country after turning around its fortunes in less than a year with dozens of new wide ranging stalls opening.

This year, as the market stands at full capacity, Cheshire West and Chester Council is hoping to fare even better and customers are asked to cast their votes between now and the end of next month.

Voting opened this week until November 30, when the top six markets will then go through to judging and a mystery shopper stage to decide on a final winner.

Cllr Richard Beacham, cabinet member for housing, regeneration and growth, said: “Please vote for Chester Indoor Market. Last year the market was a finalist, a huge accolade following the hard work of the traders, the market team and all the local people who have helped to transform the market.

“Twelve months later and the market is now at full capacity, Foodie Fridays are well established as the place to be and about to expand to Saturdays as well.

“Voting is easy, just visit nabma.com and pick Chester Indoor Market from the list of markets on the voting list.

He added: “If Chester can win the prestigious Market of the Year Award it would be a fantastic way to recognise the success of the wide community of people who have collaborated to make the vision of a vibrant Chester Market a reality – especially now that Karen Bates, our markets manager, has been named as Market Manager of the Year by the National Association of British Market Authorities as well.”

The National Association of British Market Authorities (NABMA) is the leading markets organisation in the country, promoting markets nationally. Voting is open until November 30. You are allowed one vote per person and can do so here .
