It’s Time… #Blog

Love it or hate it the cold winter nights are drawing in thick and fast and with the Clocks going back this weekend we thought of a few things that everyone should be putting in there diary’s ahead of the festive season.

  1. Has to be making sure you turn your clocks back  – and don’t forget those pesky car radios!
  2. Book your work Christmas do – if you haven’t done this already what are you waiting for? Lots of our members have fabulous deals to get you in the festive spirit and celebrate in style – look out for any of our Blue Snowy offers of the deals page, or filter by “Festive Feelings”.
  3. Bonfire night – the main highlight of the evenings drawing in early, is the perfect canvas created for lighting up the sky with fireworks and bonfires galore.
  4. Not long now until Halloween so make sure you stop by and pick up a pumpkin – craving those things is something you’ll never forget. The Hollies Farm Shop and Ice cream farm have wonderful pumpkin picking activities for you and the kids to enjoy!
  5. And of course with October drawing to a close the Festive events start rolling in…
  6. The 20th Anniversary Hoole Light Switch on -23rd November – Come along and be part of this amazing Hoole Christmas celebration that takes place from 4pm on Faulkner Street & Charles Street.  Singers, choirs, children’s activities, Santa and lots more and of course we will be open for food, drinks and Mulled Wine!
  7. Chester Christmas Market will be back in the heart of Chester from 16th November – 22nd December! Shoppers are in for a magical time at Chester Christmas Market, with over 60 traditional wooden chalets situated in the heart of Chester. All wrapped around a sparkling Christmas tree.
  8. Lumen – If you are not familiar with this event it is the pinnacle of the Crewe year. It is their light switch on and something the local council spends in excess of £100,000 lighting up buildings, street theatre and amusements. Lumen takes place this year on Friday the 29th November
  9. Don’t forget the many local stop offs Santa puts in to his diary to meet with Cheshire Children, whether it be brunch, afternoon tea, a grotto or one of his many parades.
  10. One of my personal highlights of the season is putting the Christmas tree and lights up, and for me the sooner the better- get the most out of that festive feeling. Tradition be damned.
  11. Not forgetting building that Christmas playlist- with all the family favourites. You could even attend a Michael Buble Tribute Gala Dinner for some festive smooth sounds.
  12. Or if you want to get a bit more hands on make your own Christmas Wreaths
  13. As the streets start to get busy with all those manic shoppers, dont forget to put your wine orders in,  you could pop by a festive wine tasting with The Wine School of Cheshire, or visit Whitmore and White for wonderful helpful tips on which wines go with Turkey.
  14. Or even worse it would be a crime not to order your bird from your local butchers  –  Turkey, Goose… or what ever your family goes for.  Cheshire has some wonderful butchers to choose from; Duttons of Kelsall, HE Coward, H Clewlow Butchers and Ernest W Edge and Son to name a few.

So sure it won’t be long until we are bringing in the New Year – but there is plenty of foodie fun to be had before that!
