Chester-based and Taste Cheshire members Jeffrey’s Tonic have been identified as ‘one to watch in 2018’ and potential ‘stars of the show’ at the upcoming Fine Food Show North in Harrogate!

John Farrand from The Guild of Fine Food named Jeffrey’s Tonic as the go-to place for your tonics this year in an article published in the London Evening Standard.

The review lists five products which we will be buying more of this year, with tonics featuring high up the list!

Farrand said: “Jeffreys is doing something different, being more maverick by not having a clear fizzy liquid and by using ‘botanicals’ like rosehips and galangal root. One to watch, and set to be the star at next month’s Fine Food Show North.”

The Fine Food Show North takes place between 11-13 February at the Yorkshire Event Centre, Harrogate and gives everyone in the food and drink industry a chance to help grow their business by introducing them to new producers and giving them the opportunity to seek out trends in food and drink that will make their shop, restaurant, cafe or bar a more interesting place to visit.

As Farrand touched on in his article, Jeffrey’s Tonic Syrups redefine what a tonic can be.  There has been a profusion of clear fizzy tonics, along with the development of lots of different gins.  But until now, nobody has really done too much with The Tonic, most of your favourite drink.

Jeffrey’s, made from natural  herbs and spices, including of course, Cinchona Bark, for the quinine, is a world of flavour away from ordinary ‘tonic water’.  Just add about 1 part to 5 parts soda and ice for a lovely, properly adult, soft drink.  Or then add gin and vodka, for just wonderful gin or vodka and tonic.  Or, because they are syrups, add to cocktails!  Whisky and ginger and a measure of The Original Recipe has to be tasted to be believed.

There are four in their current range – ‘Not so plain’ Tonic, made from Cinchona Bark and Organic Sicilian Lemon Juice; The Original Recipe, which has notes of cassia, nutmeg and allspice;  Lime, Galangal and Orange, which has eastern and citrus complexity; and Yarrow, Rosehip and Elderflower, a lovely floral mix which works well by itself, with gin, or actually with prosecco.

Sound great don’t they! All the best to the guys at Jeffrey’s Tonic at the Fine Food Show North!
