The last speakers for Cheshire’s exciting new CheeseFEAST Festival, being held on 16-17 November at Cheshire’s award-winning Lion Salt Works Museum near Northwich, have been announced. Cheese-based cookery demonstrations will be given by Italian cookery expert, Paola Cecchini of La Cucina di Paola on Saturday 16 November. On Sunday 17 November, Chester’s foremost authentic Italian restaurant, Da Noi from Bridge Street, Chester will be giving a cooking demonstration as will Altrincham’s renowned Vegetarian Society’s Cookery School.
This ticketed event, running from 10.30am – 5pm, gives visitors the chance to enjoy a day-long programme of fascinating cheese talks, demonstrations and tastings for just £8 per person (see programme below) Parking is free. Lunch can be purchased in the Museum’s café and the nearby Salt Barge pub will be selling cheese-themed food. A pickling and fermenting workshop will be held by The Fairland Collective over lunch and in the afternoon of Saturday 16t November as part of their project ‘The Great Salt’ – a collaboration with FEAST Journal and the Lion Salt Works Museum. People will be able to taste, prepare and take home a variety of recipes as well as hearing about the Collective’s research into how the salt industry has shaped culinary traditions and the local environment.
At 7pm on Saturday 16 November, the Museum will also host a fun and quirky ‘Periodic Table of Cheese Challenge’. This high octane, fun gourmet event, run along the lines of a game-show will feature lots of cheese tasting. This event is designed to delight cheese lovers (both serious and casual). Held in the historic setting of the Museum, the night promises to be quirky and memorable. Wines from White Fox Wine will be on sale, in addition to other refreshments.
