How lucky were we to be invited to meet with Myles and James co-owners of Little Tap, Tarporley and to sample some of their Small Plates.
On arriving at 11am we were both taken in by the warm welcome into a small but somehow quirky and intimate restaurant. The decor in the Little Tap is simple yet classy. The bar area boasted lots of Craft Beers which is one of the great things about this place, it isn’t aiming to compete with anyone else in the area it is simply Craft Beers and Little Plates.
Whilst we were talking to the guys the restaurant started to get busy with customers ordering food and drinks. There are only 10 tables in the restaurant so it really did feel very homely with a lovely atmosphere and low background music.
The dishes we ate from the main small plate menu were: Smoked cod & crispy egg with buerre blanc (£6) and Candy beetroot carpaccio with frozen ash cheese (v) (gf) (£5.50). Little sides were: Sweet potato fries with feta & coriander (v) (gf) (£4) and Crispy chilli kale (v) (gf) (£3). The beetroot was so delicate with a hint of liquorice coming through from the chervil which had been sprinkled over. The cod just fell off the fork and melted in my mouth – simply devine. We both tucked into the sweet potato fries and crispy kale with utter delight. My tastebuds were literally popping all over the place with such fabulous tastes and flavours.
There is no doubt in my mind that I will return to Little Tap with friends and family and there is definitely lots more on the menu that I could easily choose from. The Winter menu is being launched on the first of December and I can’t wait to see what delights will appear.
With lots of events planned for the Christmas Period including a Cinema Club for Little ones and later for Big ones, an acoustic session on 18 December and open on Boxing Day for the Tarporley Hunt meet there is plenty going on.
If the restaurant continues to be as popular as it clearly was at lunch time when we left there is no doubt that it will be a huge success and is most certainly well worth visiting.
New concept bar and restaurant specialising in small plates, craft beer and niche gins.
