Big 5 Catering is a Chester based event catering business started and run by Darren Andrews of Big 5 Sauces, back in 2013.

The BBQ and Hog Roast with a Difference!

The name Big 5 Catering comes from our South African roots. Big 5 is an old hunting term used to describe the five most dangerous animals to hunt in southern Africa (Lion, Leopard, Elephant, Rhino and Buffalo). They are now the most commonly sought after animals when on safari trips.

The name Big 5 also invokes memories of warm evenings spent around the BBQ (or Braai as we call it in South Africa) with family and friends, roasting our meat to perfection.

We don’t always have the weather in the UK to be outside and sitting around a BBQ, but at Big 5 Catering, Chester (Cheshire), we will endeavour to make your hog roast, lamb on the spit or BBQ a memorable and happy occasion.

Authentic South African flavours!

By incorporating the flavours used in our BBQ marinades, salads and meats, we aim to bring a taste of Africa to your event.

Alternatively, you can simply enjoy a straightforward Hog Roast or Lamb on the Spit, traditionally roasted and served with homemade apple sauce and stuffing (Hog Roast), or with mint sauce and / or a handmade aioli (Lamb on Spit).
