The Ice Cream Farm, home to the ‘World’s Largest Ice Cream Shop’, based just outside Chester, is celebrating World Book Day on Thursday 7th March with a ‘storytelling picnic’ and book festival in their tipi Playhouse.
To celebrate World Book Day, The Ice Cream Farm is holding a weekend of festivities from Thursday 7th to Sunday 10th March.
The celebrations will kick off with a storytelling picnic on Thursday 7th March, held in The Ice Cream Farm’s tipi Playhouse, where children are invited to attend in fancy dress of their favourite character, with a selection of costumes also available. The party will also feature a storytelling session, including a reading of ‘The Gruffalo’.
Visitors can choose which timeslot to attend; 11am-12pm or 1pm-2pm. Places cost £3 per child and include a lunchbox snack selection. To book your place please call 0800 133 7000.
The World Book Day events at The Ice Cream Farm will also continue into the weekend, with a book festival on the 9th & 10th March. Visitors are invited to pop into the Playhouse between 12-4pm, where a range of authors will be hosting storytelling sessions, including; Pauline Davies, Helen Poole, Bethan Lycett, Christine Gregory and Fiona Love.
There will be bean bags for children to sit on, as well as a dressing up corner. Entry to the book festival is completely free and there is no need to book for the weekend events.
World Book Day takes place every year and is an initiative with the aim to encourage children to explore the pleasures of books and reading, by providing them with the opportunity to have a book of their own.

Cheshire Farm Ice Cream has come a long way since 1986 when it was just a small parlour selling ice cream straight from the farm.
