Get ready to experience the vibrant world of Indian street food this summer as Mowgli Street Food sets up shop on King Street!
Founded by the inspiring Nisha Katona MBE, Mowgli promises a taste of authentic Indian home cooking, just like you’d find in bustling street stalls or cosy family kitchens. Known for its warm atmosphere, twinkling fairy lights, and the comforting clatter of stacked tiffin tins, Mowgli recreates the magic of Nisha’s grandmother’s home in Varanasi.
“Taking Mowgli to Knutsford feels like bringing it home,” says Nisha. Taking Mowgli to Knutsford is like bringing her home
for me. I love everything about the foodie, four-legged, friendly Knutsford atmosphere, and taking
my Indian home kitchen to this community makes me so excited. It’s a market town where I spend
so much of my time; I love the lunch scene, the dog-friendly shops, and the twinkling high street
evenings.”
Mowgli is more than just a restaurant; it’s a place to gather with loved ones, both two-legged and four-legged. Their passion for quality and community is evident in everything they do. Every morning, a team of local chefs uses fresh ingredients to prepare delicious dishes, ensuring a consistently delightful experience. “It’s a place
to kick back with friends and family, two and four-legged, as we have a passion for the things that
matter to you!” says Nisha. “I’m full of enthusiasm; for every Mowgli, we create jobs for local foodies, aim to raise over £500k per year for charity and sponsor a child in need for every full-time employee. Everything is cooked
fresh by our team of local chefs every morning, and every day, we know we are only as good as our
last curry. We hope diners will love Mowgli’s passion for healthy, fresh Indian food.”.
But Mowgli’s commitment goes beyond the plate. They actively contribute to the communities they serve. The Mowgli Trust has raised almost £2 million for local and global causes, ensuring that every restaurant partners with a local charity to fulfil its mission of giving back to the community. In Knutsford, they’ve chosen East Cheshire Hospice as their local charity partner, dedicating time and resources to support this vital organization.
Luke Oldham – Corporate Fundraiser for East Cheshire Hospice, said: “We are so proud to partner
with Mowgli. It’s clear that charitable giving is part of the fabric of the company. And we are thrilled
that they have chosen to represent East Cheshire Hospice. A Hospice only exists because of the
goodwill and generosity of its surrounding community, and this partnership is an exciting
opportunity for us to make deeper connections with the people of Knutsford. Thank you, Mowgli.”
Mowgli’s dedication extends to their team as well. They’ve been recognised as a “Best Place to Work” for two consecutive years, showcasing their commitment to creating a positive work environment. Other accolades include the 2023 Casual Dining Awards’ Restaurant Brand of the Year (1-19 sites)’,
British HR Awards’ Hospitality and Leisure Company of the Year’, and MIB’ Restaurant of the Year
and Business of the Year’
