A new authentic artisan bakery is set to launch in the village of Bradwall, just a short distance from Sandbach, creating jobs and breathing new life into the Village Hall. Bradwall Bakehouse will produce incredible artisan breads for the local community and plans to use locally-sourced ingredients that support the rural community it serves.
The new bakery, located at Bradwall Village Hall, is currently undergoing refurbishment with the aim to open for business in late spring 2022. The bakehouse is expected to bring jobs to the area and will become a hive for artisan bakers looking to showcase their talent by supplying restaurants, pubs, and shops across the region.
Bradwall Village Hall was originally opened by Lady Diana Barlow in 1972 as a focal point for the village and to support the thriving farming community. In 2016, the world famous Foden’s Brass Band took up temporary residence, however the building faced closure as the amenity attracted fewer users and volunteers. Covid-19 then accelerated the need for change.
Woody Barlow, grandson of the late Lady Barlow, purchased the village hall to breathe new life into the building and launch the new Bradwall Bakehouse. He is now overseeing the modifications to the hall, developing bakery facilities, and providing Foden’s Brass Band with their own dedicated practice facilities.
Woody Barlow, Director of Bradwall Bakehouse, comments: “The revamped kitchen provides a perfect space to develop an artisan bakery for the baking of innovative breads for the local market. Having worked in hospitality for 25 years I know there is strong demand for high quality, locally sourced bread and encourage anyone with a passion for baking and bread to get in contact with the team.”
“We are looking to re-write the rules on bread making, to only use the very best of local British ingredients and create incredible breads that meet the needs of the community. This will be a great addition to the town and is the perfect outlet for anyone who is passionate about quality bread.”
Plans for the bakehouse include a focus on sustainability and responsibility, with Barlow adding; “We want bread lovers to enjoy one of the oldest and most treasured foods in the world whilst being very sensitive to the environment.”
The bakery is actively recruiting experienced and passionate bakers to bring the vision to life. Bradwall Bakehouse is scheduled to open in late spring and click and collect options are expected to be made available for locals shopping for personal use. The bakehouse will also supply restaurants and pubs, delicatessens, shops, small supermarkets, and farm shops with a range of quality artisan breads.
