Joseph Rawlins and Gaelle Radigon are the new proud owners of La Popote, after purchasing the restaurant from Victor and Lynne Janssen, who first opened the restaurant in Marton in 2009.
Overlooking the beautiful Marton Church, the oldest wooden timbered church in Europe, the fine dining establishment is housed in a renovated farm stead, creating a wonderful ambiance for an exemplary fine dining experience.
Joseph, 26, a Wilmslow native, earned a Cordon Blue Diploma from Gordon Ramsay’s renowned Tante Marie cooking school at just 16 years of age. Since then, he has worked at many award winning restaurants both in the UK and in France, including The Artichoke in Old Amersham, Buckinghamshire.
When Joe and his partner Gaelle moved to France more than 7 years ago, he was trained by the formidable, well known chef, Guillaume Delage. Guillaume opened Jadis in Paris in 2008 to rave reviews and much of Joseph’s expertise was honed under Guillaume’s tutelage.
Joseph’s most recent position was as Head Chef at the impressive restaurant, Le Sauvage in Paris.
Gaelle, Joe’s partner, has years of experience as the Front of House in many restaurants both in England and her native France and looks forward to welcoming La Popote’s regular clientele and of course to attracting new diners to the restaurant.
Commenting on the new venture, Joseph said, “Cooking has always been my passion, and I have been inspired and influenced by many different people and places over the past 10 years. Moving back to Cheshire is like a homecoming, and Gaelle and I are delighted to have taken over the reins of La Popote to offer a truly memorable fine dining experience with gastronomic flair, using locally sourced produce.”
Joe continued, “Our new exciting menu will provide an opportunity for our guests to sample wonderful food, drink fine wine and enjoy an exceptional service from our experienced team. The menu will change on a regular basis to reflect the seasons and the availability of meats, fish and vegetables.”
The restaurant will be open for lunch and dinner on Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday and for Sunday lunch. The restaurant is also available for private parties on Tuesdays and by prior arrangement – catering for special occasions and business events is a speciality.
La Popote, the name, means a small cooking pot or colloquially ‘what’s cooking’.
