ONE WEEK TO GO…Green Light given to indoor hospitality #News

10th May 2021

We are absolutely delighted to report that our Prime Minister has just given the green light for the return of indoor hospitality from next Monday.

The government said the latest data suggested that easing restrictions from 17 May was unlikely to risk a resurgence in infections. It said infection rates were at the lowest level since September 2020 and hospital admissions were continuing to decrease.

“The roadmap remains on track, our successful vaccination programme continues – more than two-thirds of adults in the UK have now had the first vaccine – and we can now look forward to unlocking, cautiously but irreversibly.” – Boris Johnson.

Allowing indoor mixing was always the main point of concern for the government and this has lead to some feeling that hospitality has been over penalised by the lockdown restrictions, but today we focus on the positive that we are moving forward safely and happily into the return of indoor hospitality.

We can’t wait to be back inside in the warm and dry from next Monday! Get your bookings in now to our fabulous Cheshire venues, and let’s celebrate!

From Monday, people will be able to meet in groups of up to 30 outdoors, while six people or two households can meet indoors.

People are also be allowed to stay overnight with those not in their household or bubble. This means all hotels, hostels and B&B’s will also be able to open indoors, rather than just those offering self-contained accommodation.

Pubs, restaurants and other hospitality venues such as cinemas and soft play areas are to be permitted to reopen indoors.

Indoor entertainment venues will also be able to reopen and some larger theatre, music and sporting events will be able to resume inside with a capacity of 1,000 people or while half-full.

Outdoor venues can welcome up to 4,000 people or up to half of their capacity, if it is the lower number.

Hugging will also be allowed but people should consider the vulnerabilities of their loved ones, the PM says.

So we are all set for a Summer of food, drink and hugs. And we are so ready for it.

What’s changing on Monday 17 May in England?

  • People can meet in groups of up to 30 outdoors
  • Six people or two households can meet indoors
  • Overnight stays allowed with people not in your household or bubble
  • Advice on social distancing between friends and family, including hugging, will be updated
  • Pubs, restaurants and other hospitality venues can seat customers indoors
  • Adult indoor group sports and exercise classes can restart
  • Indoor entertainment such as museums, theatres and cinemas can open
  • Performances and large events can restart, with limits on audience numbers
  • Remaining outdoor entertainment, such as outdoor theatres and cinemas can open
  • Hotels, hostels and B&Bs can reopen
  • Holidays abroad to green list countries allowed
  • Up to 30 people can attend weddings and more than 30 can attend funerals
Just a little reminder. There are still social distancing rules in place and hospitality staff have had a rotten time recently. They are working hard and doing their best so please be kind, tip and remember they don’t make the rules, they just have to follow them.
