Order Envy & Local Produce Excellence: Why The Lambing Shed in Knutsford is a Must-Visit
We recently took a trip to The Lambing Shed near Knutsford for lunch, and it’s safe to say this Cheshire gem delivers much more than just a great meal. It’s a true celebration of local, fresh, and high-quality produce, served up in a beautifully relaxed setting.
From the moment we arrived, we were immediately hit with a wave of “order envy.” The kitchen is set up perfectly, allowing you to watch every dish come freshly off the pass, and we honestly could have happily eaten anything off the menu! Even though our own choices were outstanding, we found ourselves eyeing up the specials board and every plate that passed by. Top tip: definitely check that specials board!
Our Outstanding Choices
The lunch menu, which starts at 12 pm, is packed with brilliant options. Here’s what we settled on:
- I went for the Seared Flat Iron Steak. It was perfectly cooked, served with a gorgeous Korean BBQ glaze, a smooth carrot and ginger puree, crunchy Asian slaw, and finished with pickled ginger for a perfect zing. Every element was fresh, perfectly seasoned, and beautifully balanced.
- Briony chose the Home Reared Spiced Lamb Flatbread. This dish featured succulent lamb strips nestled on a fresh couscous salad, topped with pickled red onions, juicy pomegranate seeds, mint yoghurt, rocket, and coriander. It was a colourful, flavour-packed feast that truly showcased the quality of their home-reared produce.
The Golden Rule: Eat Before You Shop!
Before our meal, we couldn’t resist a lovely wander around the Farm Shop, which is an absolute treasure trove of local produce. From Cheshire cheeses and artisan breads to fresh butchery cuts and gourmet treats, it is seriously impressive.
Our best piece of advice? Eat your lunch before you venture into the Farm Shop! Shopping while hungry may mean you buy one of everything. Trust us, it’s a dangerous place for an empty stomach!

The Lambing Shed is also incredibly welcoming to families, offering great options for your “Little Farmers” menu. There’s a fantastic outdoor playground, and they host loads of good activities throughout the year, making it the perfect spot to bring the kids, friends, mum, and dad.
