PEOPLE’S CHOICE WINE AWARDS WELCOMES BENTS GARDEN & HOME AS EXCITING NEW SPONSOR #Blog

The organisers of the Peoples’ Choice Wine Awards (PCWA) are thrilled to announce that Warrington-based Bents Garden & Home is the sponsor of the One Man and His BBQ category.

The People’s Choice Wine Awards is the only national wine awards judged by consumers in the first round, with categories, which reflect the buying decisions of the average wine consumer.   This category highlights the best wines to go with BBQ food.

Family owned since 1937, Bents Garden & Home is a unique lifestyle destination which includes home, food and lifestyle products, advice and inspiration to make outdoor and indoor living more beautiful. It is a fantastic day out for all the family.

Kate Goodman, owner of Reserve Wines, situated within Bents Garden & Home, is a PCWA round 2 judge and will be presenting the People’s Choice Wine Awards ceremony, taking place at The Comedy Store, Manchester on 25^thFebruary, Manchester.

Matthew Bent, MD of Bents Garden & Home, said “We already have a link to the PCWA, via Kate and stock a huge range of top-quality barbeques too, so support of this category seemed like a natural fit.  Our customers appreciate a nice bottle wine and anything to make that buying decision easier for them is a great thing!”

Janet Harrison, the organiser of the PCWA said “This was such a popular category for submissions and it is fantastic to be working alongside a much-loved and award winning Northern business.”

The current competition saw an uplift of 157% in submissions and, most encouragingly, three times the number of companies submitting wines. There was also a wider spread of submissions from supermarkets such as Aldi, Waitrose, ASDA and Iceland as well as independents, importers, distributors and producers.

A further collaboration with Manchester based Private Eye Cartoonist, Tony Husbandwill mean that each of the winners will receive a signed, limited edition print depicting the category they have entered.  We can’t wait to see what Tony has in store for this one!

This is the first national wine awards ceremony to be hosted outside of London.  It will be presented by Amelia Singer (The Wine Show) and BBC Food and Drink’s Kate Goodman. You don’t need to be in the wine trade to come along, the organisers are keen for wine lovers from across the region to taste the shortlisted wines, enjoy delicious locally sourced food, wine spirits and beers and of course, hear the results of the competition. Tickets can be found here: https://peopleschoicewineawards.com/product/awards-ticket/
