This week Cheshire-based tourist attraction, The Ice Cream Farm, has been granted planning for a multi-million pound re-development that includes one of the largest purpose built ice cream parlours in the world, as well as the largest indoor sand and water play area in Europe. And the price for entry? FREE!

The Ice Cream Farm, based just outside Tattenhall, Chester, has scooped up the planners approval to create a mouth-watering and truly unique tourist attraction. Set to be unveiled June 2015, plans include the development of currently unused areas of the farm site, as well as making some substantial changes to current buildings and land.

The redevelopment is set around a huge 800sq metre ice cream parlour that will house the ever-increasing list of award-winning ice creams and sorbets that draw people from around the world. Renowned for their award winning use of cutting-edge technology, the, potentially record breaking, Ice Cream Farm parlour is being created and designed by Italian parlour specialists, Bocchini and Stramigio. Using a team of highly qualified architects and designers, the new ice cream parlour will be the shining beacon at the epicentre of this exciting new development. With the fun open plan design, jaw-dropping serving counter and plush seating and children’s play and seating areas, just one visit to the parlour alone is set to lure visitors back time and time again.

The central, circular building will form the main entry point for the attraction, guiding people with ease through the exciting new site. The plans include “Honeycomb Hive” a sensational sand and water play area that will allow children of all ages to play, engage and explore whatever the British weather brings. On top of this a stunning Ice Cream themed Adventure Golf course and ‘Sivercone’ quad bike track will add to the entertainment, along with much, much more.

The famous blue building that houses the current parlour will be transformed into a 180 seater food and drink area, providing a bright and contemporary environment, as well as an exciting new menu. Moving outside, ‘Daisy’s Garden’ offers a free play experience with a difference, delights include; a flavour forest, a toddler farm and adventure play areas filled with tunnels and towers. To top it all off, Fudge Farm, the ranch-style re-homing of the farm’s beloved animals will complete the Ice Cream Farm experience.

Jonathan Fell, Director of Cheshire Farm Ice Cream and the man behind this exciting vision, comments: “The plans have been a long time in the making and we are beyond excited at the thought of how this new development is going to look. We have assessed every area of The Ice Cream Farm to create, what we believe to be, the ultimate tourist attraction.”

He continues: “A fundamental part of our plan is to retain our ‘Free to enter’ policy, allowing people the opportunity to choose for themselves whether they wish to call in for a ice cream and a quick play, whilst at the same time creating an attraction that provides more than enough to keep a family entertained for a whole day.”

The creative geniuses behind the CBeebies Land, Alton Towers have helped with various aspects of the design to create a truly magical experience. As such, The Ice Cream Farm is set to make some real waves within Cheshire and the North West, as well as making its mark on the UK tourism market as a whole.

CEO of Marketing Cheshire, Katrina Michel, comments: “We are so delighted that Jonathan Fell and his team are expanding their excellent attraction in a way that retains its original charm but will now give children ample opportunities to return year in year out. The Ice Cream Farm is a great example of a rural tourism business that is creating jobs and building Cheshire’s reputation as a great location for families.”

Work is set to start imminently at The Ice Cream Farm and will be fully unveiled to the public in June 2015. The current attraction will remain open throughout this time period.
