Piccolino Chester Shines Again: A Sparkling Relaunch on Pepper Street

Pepper Street hasn’t always been one of Chester’s most exciting dining destinations, but right now, it feels like the place to be. With the imminent arrival of The Ivy Chester, the ever-reliable Artezzan just across the road, the bold flavours of AMI, and the understated elegance of 616, competition is fierce. Which makes the relaunch of Piccolino Chester all the more exciting and, frankly, perfectly timed.

Following a stunning refit and glow-up, Piccolino has re-emerged with confidence, style, and a clear reminder of what it does best.

The relaunch event itself was nothing short of sparkling. Champagne flowed freely as guests explored the refreshed space, now brimming with that signature Piccolino blend of Italian glamour and relaxed sophistication. It felt polished but still warmly familiar; a delicate balance, done well.

And then there were the canapés.

Circulating throughout the evening was a parade of beautifully crafted bites. Succulent prawns wrapped in bacon made a popular appearance (sadly one I had to admire from afar due to a shellfish allergy), but there was no shortage of equally tempting alternatives. The mushroom arancini were everything you want them to be…rich, crisp on the outside, irresistibly moreish at the centre. Mini bruschetta delivered bold garlic hits in the best possible way, little flavour bombs that packed a punch.

Visually, the carpaccio “flowers” were a standout…delicate, refined, and almost too pretty to eat. Almost. Meanwhile, the zucchini and truffle mini pizzas quickly became a firm favourite; light, indulgent, and dangerously easy to keep going back for. (And back for. And back for…)

But the real showstopper? Dessert.

A generous dish of homemade tiramisu made its way around the room, finished with Piccolino stencilled into the cocoa topping—a simple touch, but undeniably effective. One spoonful in, and it was game over. Rich, silky, indulgent, this was tiramisu at its most unapologetically luxurious. A small scoop handed to me on a plate somehow managed to feel like a moment. Dreamy, decadent, and worth every bite.

What this relaunch makes clear is that Piccolino isn’t trying to reinvent itself,it’s refining, elevating, and confidently stepping back into its lane. And it’s a very good lane to be in.

With Pepper Street now firmly established as Chester’s dining hotspot, Piccolino’s return to form is not just welcome, it’s essential. Whether you’re planning a long lunch, an evening of Italian indulgence, or simply a glass of something sparkling in beautiful surroundings, it’s once again a destination that delivers.

And if you’re making a night of it? Just a short stroll away, Rooftop Social is waiting to keep the energy going.

Chester’s dining scene is thriving, and Piccolino is right back where it belongs, at the heart of it.
