WELCOME TO THE GLYNNE ARMS

Located in the heart of Hawarden village, our AA welsh pub of the year features menus overseen by former chef director at Michelin starred Petersham nurseries, Damian Clisby.

The Glynne Arms was built in c.1812 and is named after the Glynne family who owned Hawarden Estate at that time.

In the courtyard you will see the coach house and stables where travellers could keep their horses and stay the night.

To the right of the building, you will see arches, under which butchers would cut up and sell their meat to the village.

The courtyard behind, which is now our carpark, used to be a bustling livestock market until the early 1900s.

It is, to put it lightly, a building brimming with history which has, for the past 200 years, been at the heart of Hawarden village.

In 2012 the pub was brought back under the control of the Hawarden Estate and was completely refurbished.

The aim was to align its values with Hawarden Estate Farm Shop – to always serve and source sustainably produced local food that, above all, tastes delicious.

In late 2020 we brought Damian Clisby, former Chef Director at the Michelin starred Petersham Nurseries, on board to help redevelop the menu and make our offering truly world-class.

Our link to the Farm Shop has only strengthened during this time, and they now produce all the bread and pastries on our menu, as well as supply us with produce grown right here on the estate.

We are completely devoted to serving sustainable, delicious, and local food from menus that morph and change according to the seasons.

We are unrelenting in our pursuit of quality.
