Saturday Socials are coming to Chester Market #News

First there were Foodie Fridays (hurrah!) now there will be Saturday Socials!

As Chester Market grows from strength to strength, they have decided to audition a late night Saturday on the run up to Christmas.

A posting on social media reads: “You begged and pleaded for more late nights. We listened and it’s happening!! We’re really pleased to announce #SaturdaySocial in November! Late night Saturdays until 10.30pm.”

Chester Market Facebook page suggests ‘it’s all down to the council’ whether the late night Saturdays become a more permanent fixture.

You may remember that last month we wrote about the renaissance Chester Market has undergone and it’s Foodie Fridays have become so popular it’s actually now difficult to get a seat.  Hopefully that energy will carry over in to Saturdays as throughout November traders can remain open on a Saturday until 10.30pm. This will no doubt tie in with the arrival of the outdoor Christmas market in the Town Hall Square.

It’s difficult not to be excited about this decision, with the offerings in the market now including an artisan bakery, a bistro, a deli, American Street food,  incredible pizza, Caribbean, Mexican, British, Thai, beer specialists and wine specialists,  it was tough to pick just one on a Friday. Social Saturdays will also offer an option for those who like a social Saturday with less dressing up and formality.

Promises of additional seating from the market team look positive and we look forward to seeing what musical delights present themselves. We’ve been told to keep an eye on social media for our favourite independents inside the market for special events during this time, to celebrate all things that are amazing about our City’s Community hub.

We also hope that these additional openings will drive business for the more traditional market stalls. Emma Blain on Facebook says, “it’s our new go to place when shopping on a Saturday. Such a great family vibe and the food and drink is great. We have even started buying produce to take home.”, which is in essence what the market is all about.

It’s been a big week of news for Chester Market, with the council confirming the plans for the new Northgate Development scheme including new market facilities. Construction work has been organised to begin after Christmas in January 2020 and we are excited for a brand new fit for purpose market building for all these brilliant independent traders.
