We cannot escape the fact that lifting lockdown will result in more cases…whenever it is lifted, either now or in 6 or 9 months, there is no credible route to a zero covid world” and we cannot continue indefinitely in a way that damages this economy, mental health and education. So today, the Prime Minister outlined his road map.
This Road map, aims to be a one way to freedom.
Along with the announcement that a First dose of vaccine will be offered to every adult by the end of July. Vaccine protection will replace the restrictions. All areas of the country are to be released at the same time, the sequence determined by vaccine and infection rates. The key starter being that opening up Outdoors, is seen to be the best way to offer freedom and the safest way to operate. There will be at least 5 weeks between each step, any faster would mean acting before we know the impact of each step.
Step One – Back to school, 8th March, classrooms will reopen for all pupils in all schools supported by twice weekly testing in secondary school.
29th March Easter holidays, Outdoor meetings will be possible. The rule of 6 returns outdoors including private gardens.
Step two – BEER GARDENS ARE BACK
No earlier than 12th April with 7 day warning…
OUTDOOR HOSPITALITY AND TAKEAWAYS will be able to open, beer gardens, zoos and theme parks.
Non essential retail including hairdressers and nail salons can reopen at this point too, and Indoor leisure like swimming pools and gyms.

17th May, INDOOR HOSPITALITY TO OPEN WITH THE RULE OF 6.
We really hope this will be the case, and that we can once again return to our fabulous restaurants and venues around Cheshire and support local in the best way we know how.
Most Social contact rules outdoors will be lifted and mixing indoors for up to two households would be permitted.
Theatres and concert halls, performance/sport events with limited capacity can return for some large venues.
21st June – All legal limits on social contact to be removed.
Under step four of the roadmap, the government says it hopes to lift restrictions on large events from 21 June.
All sectors can reopen and importantly for Taste Cheshire, Restrictions will be lifted on large events. Therefore we are very happy to report we can look forward to the Taste Cheshire Chester Food and Drink Festival this year.
There is no guarantee on these dates but it is exciting to have a plan for freedom and a return to “normality”. We look forward to a Spring and Summer that look very different to today.
