Aren’t we the lucky ones! Off we went to Dee 106.3 last night for our fortnightly 30 minute slot with the lovely Gavin Matthews. And to top that we were tasting Gin with Jon and Bill of Hunters Gin. A Cheshire based company who’s name comes from the working horses at Arley Hall where the distilling originated.
We certainly learned quite a lot, about the citrus botanicals used in Hunters Gin and the apples used as part of their distilling process, their apple is named Arthur (there is a story behind the name) . Old traditional and well-proven copper pots are still used by Hunters and they call the pot Catherine! who has been going over 100 years and still going strong! After trying 60 different gin recipes they created Hunters Gin. The two ingredients they believe makes their Gin longer and smoother are Oris and Angelica and what a lovely refreshing and warming after taste.
Hunters Gin is distilled at 43.3% and a good tip is that you can put their bottles in your freezer to save adding ice to chill the drink.
Thank you Jon and Bill for a great time, we always have a laugh with you two.
Hunters Cheshire Gin is a single batch, distilled, London Dry Gin based on an adaptation of a 300-year-old recipe.
