The Coach House Inn on Northgate Street treated the young group from The Clatterbridge Cancer Centre to a showing of The Wizard of Oz at Chester’s Storyhouse, followed by a meal and a few drinks at The Coach House.
The event was the latest charitable activity by the restaurant, pub and inn, which has supported local charities and the community for several years.
A spokesperson for The Coach House Inn said: “Unfortunately a few members of the group were unable to attend due to illness. We send them all of our thoughts and best wishes, but we’d also like to take this opportunity to raise awareness to just one of the many amazing ways in which Clatterbridge help and support those living with cancer, their friends and their families.
“This particular event was arranged when one of their campaigners – Elspeth – approached us about their young people’s support programme at the Chester Business Network.
“It’s just such a fantastic cause that we knew we wanted to help in some way and by utilising our partnership with Storyhouse we were over the moon to be able to treat them to an evening out.”
The spokesperson added: We’re currently raising £45,000 for Claire House Children’s Hospice (on a total of £36,200 at the moment) and we’ve got a quiz night on March 28 to raise money for the homeless, with all proceeds going to the Share Shop in Chester.
“Our general manager cooked special two-course dinners for them to give to those who didn’t have anywhere to stay on Christmas Day too.”
