Add this recipe onto your list of things you're going to be excited about this Autumn! Here at Spice Kitchen, we get super-excited about autumn. It's the time of year when everyone starts craving spiced-up warming foods and comforting drinks. Spiced Pumpkin Latte has become THE staple drink for the season!
1. Bake and puree your pumpkin!
The first step is to make the pumpkin puree. First, take a sharp knife, remove the skin, deseed and then cut your pumpkin into large chunks. Place onto a baking tray into your preheated oven and bake for 45 minutes at 190°C. Allow to cool a little and then blend until smooth.
2. Make your spice blend
As you wait for your pumpkin to bake, make your spice blend.
The perfect blend is as follows – 4 teaspoons of ground cinnamon, 2 teaspoons of ground ginger, 1 teaspoon of ground cloves, and 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg.
3. Warm the milk
In a non stick saucepan, gently warm 2 mugs of milk
4. Get mixing
Add 1/2 teaspoon of your spice mix, shot of espresso, sugar (if using), dash of vanilla extract, and 1 teaspoon of your pumpkin puree into your hot milk. Whisk until smooth.
5. Drink!
Go outside, look at the beautiful autumnal colours and enjoy!
Top tip for extra gorgeousness: serve with whipped cream, a dusting of cocoa powder and a cinnamon stick for stirring. Mmmmmmmmm!
