Acclaimed London chef Ben Spalding is visiting Macclesfield for a one night pop-up at The Lord Clyde in Kerridge.
Ben will guest at The Lord Clyde and cook alongside chef patron Ernst van Zyl, on Friday 29th April. The dinner will feature 10 courses — five from Ernst van Zyl and five from Ben Spalding – and guest can expect a dinner that will delight and challenge in equal measure.
Renowned for asking diners ‘lick a brick’ during his time leading the kitchen at London’s John Salt, Ben Spalding is a significant name in the London food scene. His visit to The Lord Kerridge is part of his tour of the UK’s best restaurants.
Chef patron of The Lord Kerridge, Ernst van Zyl said: “I’ve always said that being innovative is a vital part of being a chef, that’s in everything from the food to the service and the setting. Ben’s visit in April allows us to keep doing things a little differently and to offer something new. It will be a privilege to welcome him into our kitchen.”
The Lord Clyde is the only pub in Cheshire to hold three AA Rosettes and one of only four North West pubs to appear in the Top 50 UK Gastropub’s list 2016. Ernst opened The Lord Clyde with his business partner Sarah in 2014 and has more recently acquired two more properties – The Hanging Gate in Higher Sutton, Macclesfield and The Knott Inn in Rushton Spencer.
