Weights & Wine’s Fizzy Festive Season Recommendations #Tasty Thursday

27th September 2018

It’s Tasty Thursday and this week’s instalment is Emma from Weights & Wine. Her feature is all about getting that wine rack stocked up ahead of the festive season.

I know we’re not supposed to be saying the ‘C’ word just yet, but October is fast approaching and we’re a hop, skip and jump away from Christmas already! It goes without saying that this time of year there are lots of catch up’s to be arranged and festive celebrations to be toasted.

So here are some of my local and high street recommendations for a lovely tipple to fill up your glass this festive season.

Reserve Wines

I love this place; the staff are wonderfully helpful, and they boast an impressive selection of wine.

Sobrero Vivi, Moscato D’Asti 2015, is an Italian vintage and will set you back £18 a bottle which is reasonable given this is something a little bit special. Be quick though, there’s limited stock but you can purchase online!

Wine & Wallop

In Didsbury and Knutsford, these guys offer you the option of drinking in or taking out. They have a ‘From the cellar’ range with limited availability of rare wines that are a sure-fire way to impress any gathering. The Chapel Down Brut Vintage Reserve from the UK on their sparkling wine list is always a winner for me, it will set you back £40 a bottle.

Marks & Spencer

Have an Italian Prosecco that is recommended to be paired with crisps, my two favourite things combined. We all know that every decent gathering has crisps. The Conte Priuli ORO Prosecco has citrus hints and comes in at £15 a bottle but you can order a case of six for £90. If you’re hosting a gathering this is a fantastic offer.

Tesco

Tesco finest 1531 Blanquette de Limoux is an award winning sparkly French wine from the South. Another citrus tone beauty that is party ready. At £9 a bottle this is cheap and cheerful and can be purchased by the case.

Aldi

I am a huge fan of Aldi’s booze selection. I’m giving the Aldi Organic Prosecco a shout out for the festive season. It tastes great, looks pretty good, is award winning and won’t break the bank. This bottle will set you back £7.99 and is worth every penny. Bulk buy, before everybody else does.

There you have it, a small selection of local and supermarket options for all your boozy needs this Christmas. It goes to show a decent bottle doesn’t need to cost you the earth and there are some unique and different offerings out there if you know where to look.

Cheers to you!

Emma.
