World Chocolate Day – as if we need an excuse!?! #Blog

Chocolate is one of the best gifts you can ever receive. However, I for one, am always disappointed with being presented with a tub of Celebrations, or Heroes.

Seriously, you can do better.

When it comes to gifts, you need something really special and to celebrate World Chocolate Day this Sunday we would like to tell you a little about some really special chocolate gifts made right here in Cheshire.

Little Lodge Confectionery was started in 2016 by Kim Lodge, a delightful lady with an insatiable sweet tooth and a passion for really good chocolate. The concept of gifting these gorgeous sweet treats has been ingrained in her business from the beginning, inspired as it was by the baking she did for friends and family.

There is nothing that beats the buzz that Kim gets from creating “delicious products for my loved ones, customers and stockists.” and I for one, am a big fan.

Being attached as I am to a mechanic, I loved helping my boys treat him to Little Lodge’s Chocolate Tools on Father’s Day. I spoilt my son’s teachers with the Clever Cookie  and Smarty Pants Bars for the end of the year; and my son got very good grades (not suggesting any correlation of course).

Part of what makes Little Lodge so great, is the creativity Kim pours into it, (along with the delicious high quality Chocolate). She is always coming up with new ideas not just for flavour combinations, but also for shapes and styles to inspire. For my son’s birthday party, I will be treating his guests to her Chocolate Lego Bricks instead of a party bag, in white, milk, pink and green, these are miles better than any plastic tat I could pick up from the supermarket.

Her Eaton Mess Dome box looks just like a taste of Summer in chocolate form and would make the perfect end to a picnic, or a treat to watch the Wimbledon Final with.

And no summer would be complete without a Chocolate Ice Cream Cone…  bliss.

Of course, being a total Foodie, I am also wild about her more ‘grown up’ range… please will someone buy me the the Fudge Brownie Bar (Milk chocolate, caramel fudge, brownie fudge and white buttons, yum!) or Fudge Brownie Bites?

Or actually, I would definitely enjoy the Apricot, Cranberry and Hazelnut Slab. It’s not my birthday or anything, I just want them. I want them now.

There is just something about Little Lodge’s treats that brings out my inner Veruca Salt.

If you are more a of a purist then please do give her 70% Single Origin Dark Chocolate bars a whirl, I will be spending some time this weekend at our July Food Fiesta, chatting with Richard from Cheshire Wine School about which wine he would pair with this.

Whatever your particular chocolate want or need, Little Lodge is definitely one to watch, for flavour and style inspiration, whatever the occasion.

Who needs a “Hotel” when you can have a “Little Lodge“?

**World Chocolate Day is July 7th 2019.

Enjoy this day by eating a proper amount of chocolate without remorse and guilt!**

Little Lodge is available through her online Shop or from the following Cheshire Stockists : – Applegates Farm Shop, Claremont Farm, Whitmore and White, Backford Belles, Oddfellows and Godfrey C. Williams and sons
